The Rector welcomed and worked with Mr. Louis Zacharilla

On 28/11/2017, Mr. Louis Zacharilla - Co-founder of ICF (Intelligent Community Forum) and his Assistant visited and worked with the School. To welcome the Delegation, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hiep-Rector, Leaders of Science, International Cooperation Offices, Engineering Technology Faculty and Experimental Research Center.

Within the framework of the Conference “Binh Duong-Smart City”, 2017, Mr. Louis Zacharilla spent time visiting the campus, the laboratory, facilities, library, meeting and socializing with the lecturers, students and students of the Faculty of Engineering Technology. When Mr. Louis Zacharilla walked in the campus, he was really impressed by the green space, the beauty and harmony of the campus with the dynamic, active learning environment of the School’s lecturers and students. Especially, Mr. Louis Zacharilla experienced and used the products of scientific research by the students of the Faculty of Engineering Technology, visited the lab to culture the Cordyceps reishi, fungus mushrooms. Mr. Louis Zacharilla extremely loved and praised the idea of students with the subject to construct the sensor networks to help local people and visitors can easily access and understand information about the cultural history and human in Binh Duong.

Exchanged at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hiep, sincerely thanked for the visit and nice sentiments of Mr. Louis Zacharilla for the School. He said, with the philosophy of modern training, the maximum application knowledge into practice, the School had focused on investment, upgrades and equipped facility to serve the needs of teaching, learning and researching; especially, building the friendly and opening learning environment to help lecturers and students promote their dynamism, creativity. In the development strategy of scientific research programs and technology transfer, the School was working hard to implement three key research projects: research project on the South-East region, research project of high-quality agriculture, and the research project on the Smart city. In particular, the research project on Smart city was actively implemented smart technology by the lecturers and students to create the tools to serve and enhance human life, diverse applications in fields such as high-tech agriculture, smart health care, smart traffic, and smart home. Through this visit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hiep hoped, in the role as a co-founder of ICF (Intelligent Community Forum), Mr. Louis Zacharilla would support, consult the School to implement the project's research program.

Shared at the meeting, Mr. Louis Zacharilla said he was really impressed by the pavilions displaying the products of science and technology in the framework of the Conference “Binh Duong -Smart City”, 2017, the products matched the criteria: friendly for environment, safe for life. Along with the success of the research in the field of science and technology, the School’s lecturers and students invented the smart technology products and would become important factors contributing the general vision and deploy the actions, toward the successful construction the project “Binh Duong-Smart City”. Mr. Zacharilla confirmed he would together with the School to implement the research projects, contributed actively to reduce the distress, the problems of the functional sectors of Binh Duong Province; at the same time, determined the preeminent, effective solutions, with the Provincial Government and people, successfully implement the project “Binh Duong-Smart City”.

Louis Zacharilla is a co-founder of ICF (Intelligent Community Forum), he helped to find out the Smart Community movement. He is the developer of the programs Top 7 and Award for intelligent community of the year and guides strategies for Research Institutes in New York. He supervised the development of Research Institutes for Smart community forum. He is a key speaker and a moderator in the worldwide conferences and events. He appeared regularly on the television Medias to discuss what ICF called “Renaissance” in the world community.

Promote collaborative relationships with the University of Dublin City (Ireland)

On the same day, Assoc. Prof Dr. Nguyen Van Hiep-Rector welcomed and worked with Dr. Cathal Gurrin-Lecturer of Computational Science Faculty- the University of Dublin City, Dublin, Ireland, to discuss the cooperation programs on training, scientific research in the fields of engineering science.

At the opening the meeting Assoc. Prof Dr. Nguyen Van Hiep said, Thu Dau Mot University was a young School in the system of Universities, Institutes in Vietnam, the School strived to develop and maintain interdisciplinary education model in the local areas, the southern key economics region. In the strategy of science and technology development, the projects, scientific researches were performed in the direction of coherent cohesion between researches with applications, between training with the usage of human resources as the requirement of the industrialized modernization, international integration of Binh Duong Province and the country. Discussed the cooperation programs between the two Schools, Assoc. Prof Dr. Nguyen Van Hiep proposed, the two sides would develop more cooperative projects on training, scientific research for the technical sciences, computer science ology ... Especially, to exchange the lecturers and students, the two certificate training programs, abroad training, international seminar, cultural exchange ...

Responded, Dr. Cathal Gurrin thanked for the warm welcome, the educational cooperation proposals of the School leadership, at the same time, he introduced an overview of the University of Dublin City, specialized training programs in computer science. To promote educational cooperation relationship between the two Schools, Dr. Cathal Gurrin hoped the two sides would discuss more about the cooperation programs, and the strengths in the study of computer science in order to proceed to the drafting and signing of MOU memorandum of cooperation in the upcoming time.

In the framework of the meeting, the Leaders of the two sides openly suggested the solution to develop the cooperation program training. Besides, discussed into detail the research orientations in the field of computer science, data science ..., coordinated programs of Smart City research project.

Dr. Cathal Gurrin-Lecturer of Computational science Faculty-the University of Dublin City, Dublin, Ireland, is a political researcher of The Insight Centre for Data Analytics, Ireland. He leads a research group specializing in the development of support technology by using sensors and data analysis (with cards). The advanced interdisciplinary approach that integrates computer science, cognitive science and health care analysis based on the data to create the archives belongs to digital for the next generation of each individual. He has the Google H-index is 29 with more than 2,000 times cited for his researches and he is co-author of “Life logging, Personal Big Data” in 2004. He is the Chairman of many Senior Computer science Associations as ERIC 2011&MMM 2014, MB 2016, and keeps the position as a Co-Chair of ERIC CIKM 2010 and ACM SIGIR 2013, he also participated in many editorial and organization boards of Conferences in Data science.
